Christian Overcomers is a line-by-line Bible teaching ministry, dedicated to helping Christians go from merely believing in Jesus towards being Overcomers. If you're here looking for our Statement of Faith, it can be found in both the Old and New Testaments called the Holy Bible. We simply believe and teach every word of it to the best of our ability. That's who we are and it's what we do. We hope and pray this site will be a blessing to you.

God bless,
Pastor Ben Heath

THE CHALLENGE OF BEING A DISCIPLE AND OVERCOMER

The modern church gives us the perception that being a Christian is super easy. In fact, most of the sermons we hear boil down to one phrase - “all you have to do is believe”. That’s pie in the sky Christianity my friends. While it’s true that you can’t earn your own way to heaven by good deeds and that grace is a free gift, it’s NOT true that being a Christian is easy. Once you take the “free gift” of grace, the challenge begins, just like it did with the Israelites after they were saved from Pharaoh. Next came testing in the wilderness and a war to conquer the promised land.

BELIEVING IS ONLY THE FIRST STEP

Once we sincerely commit our lives to Christ, it doesn’t stop there. In fact it has only begun. Now we’re supposed to strive to be like Him. Can you think of a higher calling than trying to live like Jesus did? I can’t! That's pretty tough. And that’s exactly why they aren’t telling you this at many churches these days. They want you to think it’s super easy so that you’ll come to their seeker friendly cool and hip church. It's a cruel trick they're playing and I understand why they do it. The formula is quite simple. More people means more money for them. And the end result is that our churches are filled to the brim with nominal Christians, Christians who really do not live their lives in service for the Kingdom of God. Christians who will flee at first sight of persecution.

CAN YOU COMPLETE THE MISSION?

In Luke 14:25-35 Jesus lists the requirements for being a disciple. And He didn't lower the bar just to get people to follow Him. Jesus said we must love Him more than we love ourselves, we must bear our own cross, and be willing to forsake all that we have to follow Him. That's ALL IN my friends. No holding anything back. Notice, He didn't just tell his inner circle this, Jesus told this to great multitudes, some of which were hearing Him teach for the first time. There was nothing seeker friendly, hip, or cool about any of this. But then again, Jesus was looking for genuine servants, not for people seeking comfort or ease, but rather for people willing to enlist in the war against Satan and his kingdom of lies.

YOU IN?
