Christmas Is About Freedom

| December 23, 2009

It would seem that the enemies of Christianity and Freedom try and rush their bills through Congress during the Christmas season when they think that we are too busy with our family and loved ones to pay attention. One of those bills was the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, which gave a private group of bankers control over our economy. And guess what? It was passed on December 23rd! Now this year they are trying to rush through government run health care and climate change legislation just before Christmas. Both of which are designed to strip us of our freedom.

Ironic isn’t it? Christmas is supposed to be about freedom but they seek to oppress.

And this is the message our Heavenly Father has for them:

“Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of My People, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!” –Isaiah 10:1-2

Beloved, if there was ever a time we needed to focus on the true meaning of Christmas it is now. So often when Christmas comes we kind of let ourselves fall into the yearly rituals of it all. You know the whole thing, getting together with family, exchanging gifts etc. Don’t get me wrong it’s great to get together and celebrate, but in all of this, have we forgotten the true meaning of Christmas? I know, many are thinking, “I’ve heard this message before, we know, we are supposed to celebrate the birth of Christ instead of Santa Clause.” But the point I’m trying to make is that we should not only celebrate His birth (Although December 25th was actually the conception) but that we should also reflect upon the reason He came.

And that was to bring FREEDOM! He came so:

“That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us”. –Luke 1:71

Reminding ourselves of this and talking about it gives us great hope of the future. Especially during times like today when our enemies appear to be surrounding us from every direction and pursuing us without remorse. Yes in Christ we have personal freedom and salvation, and that was the first portion of His mission when He was born as a babe in Bethlehem. But He will be returning soon, after the false messiah appears, on a white horse to overthrow the wickedness on earth including those who try and pass unjust legislation (Revelation 19:11).

We are approaching that time beloved.

And perhaps the reason our enemies have been so successful is because they were right, we have been too busy with yearly rituals rather than keeping our focus on what truly matters. You know many Christians cop out and don’t pay any attention to politics at all. They think that it is somehow irreligious to be involved and that we should just worry about being saved and saving others. But as His servants, God expects us to be doing our part by paying attention, being watchful, and being involved, yes even in politics until He returns. You see God is looking for useful servants not lazy ones with excuses (Matthew 24:32-51). He is looking for men and women who are willing to stand up for FREEDOM and RIGHTEOUSNESS.

As it is written:

“These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against your neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.”

Oh, if only our political leaders would do this! Instead they imagine evil in their hearts, coveting the fruits of our labor so that they can build their false Utopia on earth with themselves as our masters. But thank God for our Savior, for soon this prophecy will come to pass:

“Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee:…And the Lord shall be seen over them, and His arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.

The LORD of hosts shall defend them…And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of His People: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon His land.

For how great is His goodness, and how great is His beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.” –Zechariah 9:12-17

Remember the mission of Christ this year and be a Christian Overcomer!

God Bless,
Pastor Ben Heath
