Parables, Mysteries, and The War Against Christianity

| May 25, 2011

A representation of the Parable of the Sower, a parable concerning the growth of the Word of God in the minds of people

And the disciples came, and said unto Him, “Why speakest Thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.”

–Matthew 13:10-11

There has been a struggle throughout the ages of time between God’s Kingdom and Satan’s kingdom, which has been a hidden mystery to the majority of people.  This conflict began in a different age—when all of God’s sons (children) were happy and living peaceably together.  It was a time “When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy! (Job 38:7 KJV).  But this peaceful age ended when the glorious arch-angel named “Lucifer,” (now known as Satan)[1] rebelled against God and said within his heart:  “I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of GOD:  I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the MOST HIGH” (Isa 14:13-14).

Thus, the great cosmic war began!

And it continues on today as we continually war “against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Eph 6:12).

War against Christianity

As this war continue on, the enemies of God’s Kingdom continually mount attacks upon the name of Jesus Christ and the Word of God.  These attacks are sometimes blatant and at other time very subtle.  And in a nation that was founded by Christian patriots in order to spread Christianity and Liberty, we have come to a time in History when believing in Jesus Christ and the Word of God is not popular.  We’re attacked in our public schools, in the public square, and even within some of our very own churches.

David Limbaugh, in his book Persecution: How Liberals Are Waging War Against Christianity, explains very well how Christianity is under attack today. He says:

While tolerance is touted as the highest virtue in our popular culture, Christians are often subjected to scorn and ridicule and denied their religious freedoms…Anti-Christian discrimination occurs in a variety of contexts throughout our culture, from the public sector to the private sector, in the mainstream media and in Hollywood, in the public education system and in our universities.  Often the discrimination comes from activist judges misinterpreting the law (the hostility to Christian religious freedom infects our judiciary as much as anywhere else); other times it comes from entities misapplying the law.  It also comes from what we call “political correctness.”  The discrimination mostly stems from a hostility to Christianity and from rampant disinformation in our society about what the Constitution actually requires in terms of the so-called “separation of church and state”…Anti-Christian discrimination in our society is getting more blatant and more widespread every day.[2]

Furthermore, many of the enemies of God’s kingdom are attempting to strip the Ten Commandments out of our schools and courthouses because they say it can be offensive!  How can this be Offensive?  Our Great Nation America was built upon the principles of Christianity.[3]

However this should come at no surprise for Jesus warned us of these trying times when he said, “And ye shall be hated of all men for My names sake:  but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” (Mark 13:13).

The details of this great conflict between Satan’s kingdom and God’s Kingdom is written about in the Word of God, but many times it can be overlooked because Christ concealed many things within symbols and parables.  And in order to decode these mysteries, one must have a good working knowledge of the Bible (from Genesis to Revelation) along with some knowledge of History, and be able to relate these things to the current events of the day.

The great book of Revelation enlightens us to the mystery of this spiritual conflict probably more so than any other book of the Bible.[4]

In the 12th chapter of Revelation we see a struggle between “a woman” with a crown of twelve stars (v. 1), and a great red dragon with seven heads, ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads (v. 3).  The woman wearing a crown of twelve stars represents the Kingdom of Israel,[5] while the great red dragon represents Satan’s kingdom otherwise known as the New World Order.

So here in this chapter we see a symbolic picture of the war between God’s people and Satan’s people.  So again, it should be no surprise that Christianity is being attacked today, it was foretold of long ago.

In chapter 13 we see another vision related to this great conflict:

And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.  And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority (Rev 13:1-2).

Notice again, we have crowns upon this beast which are symbolic of a kingdom—i.e. Satan’s kingdom.  And just by looking at the description of this beast we can see right away that it is a destructive tyranny, because the leopard, bear, and lion, are all vicious beasts of prey.

So when we hear of the making of a New World Order for peace and security, we know better, we know that the New World Order is anything but peaceful and secure. [6]

But as far as our enemy is concerned, many of the satanic forces working in the world are concealed from most people eyes, except those who study the Word of God and have eyes to see and ears to hear.[7] They just don’t get it.

For example; in Revelation 17 there is a symbol of a “great whore that sitteth upon many waters” (v. 1), and “upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH” (v. 15).  She is called “Mystery” Babylon for a reason, because again most people do not recognize her for who she is.

She is the one responsible for all of the anti-Christian forces in the world, working hand in hand with Satan’s New World Order.  So what does this whore symbolize?[8]

False Religion!

Babylon is the fountain-head of all idolatry and stems of false worship.  This is the “mystery of iniquity” (2 Thess. 2.7) seen in all the great “religions” of the world.  All alike substitute another god for the God of the Bible; a god made with their hands or with the imagination, but equally made; a religion consisting of human merit and endeavour.  The “Reunion of the Churches” of Christendom and the “League of Nations” are two of the most arresting signs of the times.[9]

And some of the signs of time today include; the development of the United Nations, Unity in Diversity of all religions, and economic globalism.

So as we see from these examples mentioned above, the book of Revelation is packed full of mysteries contained within symbolism.  The exciting part about it is that one can decipher these symbols simply by studying the entire Bible, along with much prayer for understanding.

World Empires

The book of Daniel, which Jesus quoted from concerning the end days (Matt 24, Mark 13, Luke 21), reveals many mysteries concerning kingdoms and nations, even mysteries concerning the eternal Kingdom of God.

And on one occasion mentioned in this book, Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon dreamed a dream which the astrologers, magicians, sorcerers, and the chaldeans could not interpret.  But, after much prayer, the meaning of the dream was revealed to Daniel and to us today. Here is that revelation:

Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision.  Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.  Daniel answered and said, “Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever:  for wisdom and might are His:  And he changeth the times and the seasons:  He removeth kings, and setteth up kings:  He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:  he revealeth the deep and secret things:  He knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with Him.  I thank Thee, and praise Thee, O Thou God of my fathers, Who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of Thee:  for Thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter” (Dan 2:19-23).

The interpretation of the dream revealed that various world empires would arise on the earth one after the other, even up unto the time of the end—when God’s Kingdom will conquer all.

Another important vision concerning world empires occurred during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar’s grandson, Belshazzar king of Babylon. During that time Daniel saw a vision concerning four great empires that would arise, empires which were symbolized by four great beasts; a lion, a bear, a leopard, and a dreadful and terrible beast; giving us a descriptive picture of each world empire and its characteristics—but to many, just words on a page.

The characteristics of the dreadful and terrible fourth beast were described in this manner:

After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth:  it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it:  and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns (Dan 7:7).

What a mysterious creature!  Again, this is symbolic.  The mystery lies within the description of this beast.  It was quite different than the beasts before it.  The characteristic of the iron teeth let’s us know that this world empire will be powerful and the ten horns represent the ten kings that will rule over it (v. 17).

In other words, this beast represents Satan’s One World Government.

When hearing of such things as the United Nations and a global economy, could it be that this beast is beginning to arise out of the waters?

Parables of the Kingdom

During Jesus’ ministry on earth he taught many mysteries concerning the Kingdom of Heaven, much of which was contained within parables. These mysteries had been hidden since the foundation of the world. But why did Jesus speak concerning the kingdom in parables?  Why didn’t He just tell us plainly? Well the answer Jesus gave to his disciples when they asked this question was that it is only given to some “to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven” (Matt 13:11), but to others it is not given.

We must trust God and know there is a good reason for this.  For God has a purpose and a plan for all things.

The parable of the sower, given in Matthew 13, is a prime example of Jesus’ teachings concerning the mysteries of the Kingdom.  This parable is actually broken up in two sections; the first sowing refers to the Word of the Kingdom, and the second sowing is referring to the sowing of children in this earth—i.e. the children of the Kingdom and the children of the wicked one.[10] The latter being a great mystery to most of the world, even to most Christians.  We will expound in more detail later, but first, “Why can many not understand the parables that Jesus taught?”

Well there are three major factors why most cannot see or understand the mysteries of God’s Kingdom:

  1. The wicked one obscures the truth (Matt 13:19).
  2. Many do not anchor themselves deep enough into the Word of God by studying (vv. 20-21).
  3. The cares and worries of this life prevent seeds of truth from growing (v. 22).

All of these obstacles in the way of gaining truth can be overcome by a zealous and sincere search for the truth. Jesus promises us that if we ask, seek, and knock that He will open our understanding (Luke 11:9-11).  Unfortunately though, many simply do not care enough to seek out the mysteries of God’s Kingdom, so they remain in darkness.

But there remains yet another reason Jesus spoke these mysteries of the Kingdom in parables.  It was done to conceal the truth from his enemies.[11] You certainly wouldn’t want your enemies to understand your plans would you?

On the other hand, there are those to whom the mysteries of God’s Kingdom are revealed, because they love God and love the truth.

Concerning these; Jesus said, “blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear” (Matt 13:16).  Having spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear is a statement Jesus made many times after speaking to the people in a parable concerning the Kingdom of Heaven. One cannot have a more valuable gift than to be able to see and understand the plan of God. This understanding brings comfort and peace of mind to a Christian, because you know why we are here and what tomorrow brings.

You don’t have to have a doctorate in theology to understand Jesus’ parables.  “A simple-minded Christian, who has some understanding of the truth, can readily understand figurative illustrations” of the truth.[12] That is why Jesus said they are so blessed.

But getting back to the second half of the parable of the sower, Jesus explained that there are children of God’s Kingdom and there are children of Satan’s kingdom.  The children of the kingdom were referred to as the wheat, while the children of the “Wicked One” were symbolized by tares.

This is a great mystery!

It is the birth of two opposing forces on this earth—i.e. the Woman’s seed vs. the Serpent’s seed.  In fact, this war between the two seed lines was the first prophecy recorded in the Bible (Gen 3:15).  For the sowing of the Devil’s children began with “Cain who was of that wicked one” (1 John 3:12).

One might say, “How can this be?”

The answer is that it happened, “while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way” (Matt 13:25).  Paul also spoke concerning this secret in 2 Thess 2:7 when he stated that, “the mystery of iniquity doth already work.”

Do you have eyes to see and ears to hear?

Tribes of Israel

Exactly who the Children of the Kingdom are today is also a great mystery to most of the world.  God’s plan for Adam and his descendents through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was to build a Kingdom on the earth to overthrow the forces of darkness which had taken over this earth.  And this they will accomplish though the seed of the woman; Jesus Christ, who is the King of kings and Lord of lords (Rev 19:11-16).

The 12 tribes of Israel (the children of the kingdom) are chosen by God to be the royal family of the earth as stated in 1 Pet 2:9. It is their duty to be light and a blessing to the world.

Further evidence that Israel was chosen by God, to build a Kingdom and establish order, is that even the twelve gates to the eternal Kingdom have the names of the twelve tribes of Israel written on them (Rev 21:12).[13]

You see most of the world today only knows of one tribe of Israel, called “Judah”, and are completely unaware that the other 11 tribes still exist today.  How do we know this to be true?  Well, in the latter days, God will seal 12 thousand of each of the tribes of Israel (Rev. 7:3-8).  Therefore they must exist!

They may be lost to the world, but God didn’t lose them. God’s Kingdom is very real and tangible today.

Wherever the children of Israel are, there resides the Kingdom, because they are the children of the Kingdom (Deut 7:6).  So where are the tribes of Israel today?  Well, let’s start first with Christ’s statement concerning the lost sheep of Israel.

You see Jesus Christ came to restore the lost tribes of Israel by making a new covenant with them (Jer 31:31-32).  Re-gathering all twelve tribes of Israel was part of Jesus Christ’s mission as stated in Matt 15:24, “But He answered and said, ‘I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”  And in another spot, Jesus stated that “the Son of man is come to save that which was lost” (Matt 18:11).

Christ came to save those sheep who were lost because Israel had been scattered among the heathen during the Assyrian and Babylonian invasions. They forgot who they were and began to worship other god’s and call themselves Gentiles.

But Christ began to restore those lost sheep (Kingdom of Israel and Judah) under the name “Christian.”

Naturally, Christianity spread primarily wherever God’s people Israel were.  They were the sheep that could hear the voice of the good Shepherd (John 10), they knew intuitively the voice of their shepherd. So Christianity spread throughout Europe and then later to America.  In fact, Europe and America make up the largest portion of the Israelites today.

Yes, this is a great mystery to most.

While Israelites remain in other countries, America is the home of millions of all the thirteen tribes (one out of many) and thus is representative of the whole House of Jacob.  We are bound by Israel’s responsibilities; fulfilling Israel’s destiny.  The MARKS are on us everywhere; in our NAME; in our SABBATH; in our INSTITUTIONS; in our PHILANTHROPY; in our COMMERCE; in our WEALTH; in our MINES; in our AGRICULTURE; in our CHURCHES; in our MISSIONARY ENTERPRISES; in our ARMED FORCES; in our POSSESSION OF THE BIBLE; – all BIRTHMARKS, which neither time, nor the ages, nor even our sin can wipe out.[14]

There is a mountain of evidence in history and the Word of God to support these claims about Israel and who they are today, but that is a larger subject outside the scope of this article.

In conclusion, the war between Satan’s kingdom and God’s Kingdom is very real and has been waging for many thousands of years.  Satan uses both overt and covert strategies when attacking God’s Kingdom.  His system of Government and his method of operation are all written about; often in symbolism within the book of Revelation, the book of Daniel, along with many other portions of scripture.  But not everyone has spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear these details concerning this great conflict.  But as Christians it is vital to be able to identify the difference between these two opposing forces (i.e. Satan’s kingdom vs. God’s Kingdom).  For most of the world is unaware that Satan has literal offspring on earth today, and because of this, many people follow the children of the devil thinking that they are God’s chosen people.

He that hath ears to hear let him hear!

In His Service,

Pastor Ben Heath
