Godless Liberals

| May 30, 2011

As we look out at America today we see a different America than the one our Founding Fathers envisioned.

The Founding Fathers came with Bibles in hand for the purpose of advancing the gospel of the kingdom of Jesus Christ and to live free and blessed. It was their desire to become a “city upon a hill” to give light unto a dark world (Matthew 5:14). But now we see God being removed from our public institutions including our schools, courts, and government buildings.

Why is this happening? And what is in the minds of our people?

In an attempt to understand our people, below is posted an email someone sent to me after reading an article I wrote where I stated, “How can someone who claims to be a Christian vote for someone like Obama who is fundamentally anti-Christian?” She was pretty upset that I said this and here is what she wrote:

I looked over your page and was slightly disturbed. I try to be a good christian and yes i voted for Obama. I voted for Bush last time and I deeply regret that decision… As an adult I have searched for a church/religion that is right for me and my family, so having been to many different Churches, many different denominations i can tell you the bible can be interpreted many different ways …Your pages comes off awfully righteous and judgemental not loving and Christian.

Does she even know what it means to be a Christian or how a true Christian should act?

Is it impossible to understand the Bible? That’s like saying that we serve a God who is incapable of sending us a coherent message. Would not God care enough for His children to send us a letter of love, instruction, and warning? Jesus taught us that “if we seek we shall find” (Matthew 7:8). And I believe Him!

But should I as a Christian not stand up for Truth because it might hurt someone’s feelings? Is not true love to tell the truth even if the person doesn’t like it?

Is it judgmental to stand upon the principles of God’s Word and call that which is wrong, “evil”? Was Jesus un-Christian for calling the Scribes and Pharisees hypocrites (Luke 11:44) or for going into the Temple and overthrowing the moneychangers with a whip? (Matthew 21:12) I don’t think so. You see sometimes Christians are to be stern and practice tough love.

You want to be careful, it is Satan who will tell you everything you want to hear and things to make you feel good.

Now I don’t mean to pick on this person but I intend to use her as an example to illustrate my point. She is just one out of millions of people who claim to be a Christian but yet rejects the fact that the Bible is the foundation of truth or believe that it is impossible to understand. And we can’t place all of the blame upon people like her, because many of our own churches have failed to teach them God’s Word–chapter by chapter and Verse by Verse. But have instead taught them the “Traditions of Men” and made God’s Word of little value (Matthew 15:6).

Nevertheless, our people have become a rebellious people. As it is written:

“Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against Me…Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.” –Isaiah 1:1-5

And they have gone away backward. Beloved, rebellion against God is called Liberalism today. Modern day Liberalism goes against the teachings of God’s Word almost point for point. To name a few: abortion, gay rights, separation of church and state, and the teaching of evolution. I could go on and on. Liberalism is anti-Christian—period.

So where are we headed as a nation? Well not good. Here is what God’s Word says concerning the last days:

And I will give them children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. And my People shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honorable. When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, ‘Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler and let this ruin be under thy hand: –Isaiah 3:4-6

As you read this verse you were probably shocked thinking, “Oh my goodness it is happening exactly like this now! We have leaders who act like children, children who dishonor their parents, our economy is in the dumps, and we’ve elected someone completely unfit for the job of leading our nation.”

But beloved, thank God for the Christian patriots that we do have in America! For, “Except the LORD of hosts has left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah” (Isaiah 1:9). You are that “precious remnant” that loves God and seeks Him out to understand Him, His Word, and His Plan.

Let your light shine in this dark world!

God Bless,
Pastor Ben Heath
