Comet Garradd Launches Forth

| September 28, 2011

The motion of Comet Garradd against the stars of Sagitta is shown in this 118-minute exposure by Richard Schmidt on 24 August 2011 at Burleith Observatory, Washington, DC.

Many people got all hyped up this year about the comet Elenin which appears now to be nothing but hype. However there is another comet making its way through our solar system right now named “Garradd” which is forecasted to shine at the 6th magnitude from October (2011) to mid March (2012). Meaning it should be visible to the naked eye.

Not since Hale-Bopp passed through has any comet shined as bright for as long.

Now Garradd isn’t supposed to pose any danger to earth, but it has been taking an interesting and perhaps prophetic course through the heavens.

(View a detailed diagram of Garradd’s course)

On August 24th, 2011 Garradd could be spotted right under the tip of the arrow of the constellation Sagitta (The arrow of Sagittarius), and has since shot forth through the heavens where it will skim past Hercules (The Mighty One) over the next couple months and on towards the head of Draco (The Dragon) in February, 2012.

What does this mean?

Well let’s start by looking at the Constellation “Sagittarius” and its Biblical meaning.

From the picture below you see a horseman with an arrow drawn back in his bow. And in the ancient Zodiac of Denderah you will find the word “Knem” engraved in hieroglyphics underneath this constellation which means:

“He conquers”.

Well, we know of one who will come to conquer evil, and that is our Lord Jesus Christ when He returns riding upon a white horse (Rev 19:11).

The constellation "Sagittarius" is a depiction of Christ on a white horse going forth to conquer

But since the comet Garradd passed directly under the tip of the arrow of Sagittarius (Sagitta) and toward the head of the Dragon (Draco) as though it had been been shot from his bow, maybe it’s a good idea to review prophecies related to this great sign in the heavens?

For a more in depth study of the “constellations” and their Biblical meanings I recommend the book Glory of the Stars: A Study of the Zodiac

The most prominent place in prophecy where arrows are shot forth from God is in Psalms 64. Let’s take a look at it.

Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: Preserve my life from fear of the enemy. Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; From the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

Who whet their tongue like a sword, And bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

They encourage themselves in an evil matter: They commune of laying snares privily; They say, “Who shall see them?” They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: Both the inward thought of everyone one of them, and the heart, is deep.

But God shall shoot at them With an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: All that see them shall flee away. And all men shall fear, And shall declare the work of God; For they shall wisely consider of His doing.

The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in Him; And all the upright in heart shall glory. (Psalms 64:1-10)

In short, ALMIGHTY GOD will send arrows of correction against those who conspire against and desire to harm His people. (Prophetic examples of this can be found in the seals, trumpets, and vials of Revelation.)

And the timing of this sign is quite interesting because of tensions between America and the “kings of the east” intensifying at this time (See Rev 16:12). Just the other day Iran threatened to deploy warships close to our coastlines. Will they try something between now and March? And will God intervene and shoot His own arrows upon them? Or will something else happen?

Who knows.

We don’t know for sure if anything dramatic will happen over the coming months as a result of this sign. But we do know that God does at times step in to protect His people. (See Zech 9:14 and Zech 9:15)

You know this sign of the comet Garradd, looking as though it had been launched from the bow of Sagittarius like an arrow, could just be a reminder that one day God will finally move forward to destroy the Dragon and all his powers. Of course the Dragon meaning Satan and all of those who follow him (See Rev 12:9). And it may be, like all of the other signs of the zodiac, just depicting the constant conflict that is taking place between God’s Kingdom and Satan’s kingdom in heaven and on earth. Whatever the case may be, we should take note of it and be alert.
