The Perfect Candidate for 2012

| January 3, 2012

Is it Romney, Bachmann, Santorum, Gingrich, Perry, or Ron Paul?

Well from a Biblical prospective none of these candidates are perfect, however, all of them would be better than Obama. But which one would be our best choice? And how are we to decide who that would be?

That’s a good question. We Conservatives usually compare candidates with Ronald Reagan to determine if they are qualified or not. And it seems as though we’re always desperately trying to find someone exactly like him. And that’s because he did many good things for America. He stood up against world communism, cut taxes here at home, built a strong national defense, along with many other good things.

But why not go back even further to find a model candidate? Why not find someone who we know was 100% approved and chosen by God?

If we do that, then we will have a much better standard to compare with, a standard that won’t gradually change or diminish over time. That way we will guard ourselves from falling into Political Idolatry like even many Conservatives (neoconservatives) have fallen into. (Read article titled “Political Idolatry” for details)

Alright then, “Who should we compare our potential leaders to?”

Answer: King David

A man after God’s own heart

You see King David was the Gold Standard for leadership in the Bible. And historically the leaders of the kingdoms of Israel and Judah were often compared to David to say whether or not they were any good.

For example it was said of king Jehoshaphat who came to power over a hundred years after David that:

The Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father (ancestor) David, and sought not unto Baalim; But sought to the LORD God of his father, and walked in His commandments, and not after the doings of Israel. Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand… –II Chronicles 17:3-5

And of king Josiah it was also said that:

He did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left. –II Kings 22:2

But it was said of king Amaziah that:

He did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did. –II Kings 14:3-4

Take a close look at this comparison here. God said that Amaziah was a good king but that he did not measure up to the standard of David.

I would say we’ve had some of these types of leaders throughout American History. Perhaps even the late President George W. Bush could be compared to Amaziah in certain respects. You see Amaziah fell short of the standard of David for several reasons, some of which are listed in 2 Chronicles 25:1-28. He started out doing the right things but later gave in to pride and fought an unprovoked war with the Edomites, and even later fell into idolatry and worshipped false gods.

America's God and Country

You see there were not too many leaders in history who have measured up to the standard of king David. The only two I can think of off the top of my head in America that may have come close would have been George Washington and John Adams. There were probably a few more, that’s just who popped into my mind.

But what was it that made David such a great king?

Well if you can remember the story of when David was chosen, you will remember that he wasn’t even considered by his own father to be a candidate for the future king of Israel (1 Samuel 16:1-13). He wasn’t as old, experienced, or perhaps as polished like his seven older brothers may have been. But God saw in him something that his father did not.

For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh upon the heart. –1 Samuel 16:7

You see it was David’s heart that God approved of. David’s number one priority in life was to love and please God (Acts 13:22). He diligently sought out God’s will and did his best to perform it. That’s it. That’s what made him such a great leader. And this is why he still should be used as the standard to judge potential leaders by. But I must caution you before we begin to make an “idol” out of David, for even he made some terrible mistakes as king. His most grievous mistake was his adulterous affair with Bathsheba (See 2 Samuel 11:2-5). And he paid dearly for it.

But back to the 2012 Presidential Candidates.

You see when I’m looking at Romney, Bachmann, Santorum, Gingrich, Perry, or Ron Paul, I’m looking to see if they have a heart like David. Of course only God can judge the heart, but I can check to see if their political stances align with the commandments of God. Sure I understand that America is not a theocracy nor am I promoting one, but America was built upon the Commandments of God and the Testimony of Jesus Christ, and I’d like to keep it that way.

Mitt Romney

Mitt RomneyPersonally I don’t see Mitt Romney as comparable to king David. For one he has somewhat of a liberal background. As Governor of Massachusetts he actually passed into law a miniature version of Obama Care for his state. Besides that, he just seems to be overly polished. In my opinion, it’s awfully hard to trust a polished politician especially when the political establishment and the mainstream media appear to be propping him up. I guess I would kind of liken Romney to David’s seven brothers who perhaps looked presidential but who were not chosen by God.

Michele Bachmann

Michele BachmannNow I do see somewhat of a fervent heart like David in Michele Bachmann. She stands up mightily for the commandments of God especially when it comes to the issues of abortion and gay marriage. Even when attacked viciously for taking strong stands on these issues Michele still remains true to her beliefs. She does not back down.

And another really great thing about Bachmann is her stance against the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank that is destroying America (See The Modern Day Money Changers for more detail). And she is even bold enough to say that she would do whatever she could to abolish the FED!

However, she too isn’t perfect. Along with so many others she also has been mislead into thinking that the Modern Day Israeli nation is God’s Chosen Nation. You see most people who claim to be Jews today are of Ashkenazi descent whose ancestors merely converted to Judaism in the 7th century A.D. and are not descended from any of the tribes of Israel (See Rev 2:9 and Rev 3:9). Our studies on Zionism and The Book of Esther go into more detail on these things.

Rick Santorum

Rick SantorumA good thing about Rick Santorum is that he appears to be a fervent supporter of moral values like Bachmann. He is widely known for his strong stance against Homosexuality and in 2005 even wrote a book titled It Takes A Family.

However, when asked by Glenn Beck whether or not he would abolish the Federal Reserve he gave somewhat of a squeamish answer. That sort of turned me off. And that’s not the only thing that turns me off about Santorum, for he too is mislead into being a fervent supporter of Israel.

Newt Gingrich

Newt GingrichNow Newt Gingrich turned me off long ago when he did advertisements promoting the false doctrine of man-made Climate Change with Nancy Pelosi. And it doesn’t stop there. He worked side by side with Hillary Clinton on a number of issues as well. I don’t know about you, but those things alone raise red flags for me.

And not only that, but Gingrich is also an admitted supporter of globalization, the number one enemy of Christianity in the last days!

I could probably go on with the negative things about Gingrich, but even above all the things I mentioned already, I see a sort of pride within Gingrich that king David did not possess. It would seem that Gingrich is always relying upon man’s wisdom in an attempt to solve problems rather than seeking the wisdom of God.

Rick Perry

Rick PerryRick Perry is sort of known for several gaffes he has made. Personally I don’t care if a Presidential Candidate misspeaks or makes mistakes. That doesn’t make one bit of a difference to me. We’re all human and we all make mistakes.

Besides the fact that Perry supported Al Gore in the 1988 Democratic Presidential Primaries he does appear to have a fervent desire to serve God, much like Michele Bachmann. He takes a strong stance against Homosexuality, upholds God’s command to put violent criminals and rapists to death (Numbers 35:16), and is a strong proponent of gun rights. On top of that he is also taking a strong stance against illegal immigration by promising to deport every illegal immigrant that gets picked up by law enforcement.

But Perry has, like Bachmann, Santorum, and many others, been duped into thinking that they have a “Biblical mandate” to support the modern day Israeli nation. This is quite frustrating to me because it really isn’t too hard to research and find out the truth concerning these things.

All one has to do is read and research the facts given to us in books like the Abrahamic Covenant by E. Raymond Capt, a Biblical Archeologist and Historian.

Ron Paul

Ron PaulAnd then we come to Ron Paul. Many of our fellow conservatives would have us believe that his foreign policy is extremely dangerous. And others like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh simply mock him and call him nuts without really even giving a good reason. I agree that he does come across as a little different at times, but I don’t think Ron Paul’s foreign policy of not wanting to be involved in unnecessary wars is dangerous. In fact, it’s more dangerous to get involved in these kinds of wars than to not get involved.

I served a year over in Iraq as a gunner on an armored Humvee, and from what I observed I can honestly say I don’t feel the Iraqis will be able to maintain any kind of real freedom for any length of time. The main reason is that I don’t believe any nation can attain lasting freedom without first building that freedom upon the Commandments of God and the Testimony of Jesus Christ.

You see this utopian idea that we can achieve a Worldwide Democracy apart from God is no different than those who attempted to unite and build the Tower of Babel back in the book of Genesis. For it too is doomed to fail (Gen 11:1-9).

But other positive things about Ron Paul include his never ending fight to preserve civil liberties, his effort to abolish the FED, his strong desire to support and uphold the Constitution, and his stance on Israel. As far as Israel is concerned, he believes that America should not get involved militarily and that Israel should simply be allowed to fight and protect themselves if they need to.

Not much wrong with that. In fact, non-interventionism was the position that the majority of America’s Founders held.

But of course, like every other candidate, there are some negative things about Ron Paul as well. He has spoken out against the death penalty, which of course is mandated by Biblical Law for violent crime such as murder and rape (Deut 22:25). He is for the legalization of drugs, referred to in the Bible as “sorcery” (Rev 21:8), and is rather weak when it comes to the issue of homosexuality.

However, since Ron Paul would fight valiantly for my personal liberty and leave me free to worship God the way I see fit, I would most likely vote for him before I would vote for Romney or Gingrich, especially before Gingrich who is willing to sell us out to a godless World Government.

You know I wish we could vote for another David to lead our people but it certainly doesn’t look like we have that option here in 2012. Who knows, maybe in the future God will raise up some leaders with the same faith, courage, love, and conviction David had for Almighty God. Maybe that somebody could be you?

But for now we must continue to do our duty as Christians to support and vote for whichever candidate we feel aligns most with the Word of God.

Pray for America, she needs it now more than ever.

In His Service,
Pastor Ben Heath

Your assessment of Israel’s biological heredity ignores the reality of God’s enemies in His holy land, specifically Islam.

Whether the modern-day Jews of Israel understand their role is immaterial to those of us who have taken on the mantle of Christ understanding our role.

We will have to agree to disagree on Rep. Paul’s character.

  2. Although I agree with you on many things concerning all of the candidates, I still have not made up my mind completely on Dr.Ron Paul. I admire his honesty and strong leadership quality, however, his policy on Iran is a little frightening to me. The idea of Iran being allowed to build nuclear bombs is very frightening to me. I know for a fact, we are not going to find the perfect candidate so we are forced to choose the one that best suits our beliefs. I will vote for the person who puts his trust in the Lord Jesus and Christian standards. For that reason, I cannot vote for Mitt Romney or Gingrich. Bauchman has no chance at this point. My choice would be Santorum but we will see how that turns out. All I can say is….”God help us”.

You have to think…Who’s the only candidate that is being ignored by the Kenite controlled so called main stream media?….Ron Paul…And Fox News is the worst of the worst when it comes to dirty tricks against Paul…Paul is the only candidate that is not controlled by the Kenite’s New World Order….He’s the only one that is a Champion of the Constitution. He’s not a puppet for the political Beast system of Rev. 13…he represents the original American ideals that the rest of the world once looked up to and hoped to emulate. All the other candidates are Globalist and Demagogues [i.e. Those leaders who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power], which arises in a democracy, that prey on the ignorant and uninformed. Ron Paul is the only one that will work to restore America as a free republic….Here’s the key….watch the Kenite media and see for yourself who they are afraid of.

Hi Pastor Heath….I’m fairly new to your web site….I really like your Bible studies and the way you present God’s letter to the listeners….I know that I’m sending a lot of information here but as you ended your article above “In His Service”. I feel that I need to do the same….God always sends out the warning before judgement….in that way He is always fair. I believe that this could be the last election that this country will ever see and I also believe that God, being fair, has led Ron Paul to run for president giving the American people a real choice. That way no one can say that God was not completely fair.

I’m sending these news stories because I want people to understand what the real truth is about those so called conservative candidates…..And at the same time I’m no fool…..I know that any nation that has fallen away from God deep into sin must repent, turn to our father in Heaven, be open to searching out the truth of His Word, study His laws, and live accordingly….Then….God’s blessings follow in our footsteps, and they will be part of everything that we do in our lives…..Another words….To receive blessings you must first ground yourself in the entire Word of God, and make them part of your life…..And at the same time…..One has to read it with understanding and that takes study.

We were once one nation under God, and if this nation were to put God first again, He would cause our enemies to flee from before our faces.

Good article Ben and I could not agree more. Ron Paul is the only candidate who will even try to break the grip the Kenites have on our nation. The other candidates are misled; jumping into bed with Israel is jumping into bed with Satan. The Jews are not of the tribe of Judah, they claim to be of Judah but do lie (Rev 2:9 and 3:9), and they are not the chosen ones. We the United States and other Christian nations are the decedents of the tribes of Israel, we are the chosen ones. Ron Paul is not perfect but none of us are. I believe he is the last and best chance this country has to get back on track. Thanks for all you teachings Ben, God bless.
