Book of Jeremiah
“The Coming Babylonian Invasion”
Book Overview
The Weeping Prophet to a Backsliding Nation
The Book of Jeremiah is one of the most powerful and sobering books in the Bible. Written during the final decades before Judah’s destruction and exile to Babylon, it records God’s urgent warnings through the prophet Jeremiah to a backsliding nation.
Called by God before birth (Jeremiah 1), Jeremiah ministered for over 40 years under five kings. He delivered a consistent message: Judah had forgotten God, broken covenant, and judgment was coming from the north. He was hated, persecuted, imprisoned, and called a traitor for speaking the truth.
Jeremiah exposes the nation’s spiritual decay — idolatry, moral collapse, corrupt leaders, false prophets, and unrepentant hearts. He warns of coming terror (Jeremiah 4–6), hypocritical religion (Jeremiah 7), shameless sin (Jeremiah 8–9), and the danger of following the ways of the heathen (Jeremiah 10). He rebukes corrupt politicians (Jeremiah 22), false pastors (Jeremiah 23), and a people who preferred comfortable lies over God’s Word.
Yet amid the judgment, Jeremiah also delivers incredible hope. God declares His sovereignty over nations (Jeremiah 18), promises a New Covenant written on the heart (Jeremiah 31), and foretells future restoration (Jeremiah 30–33).
Jeremiah’s own suffering — being beaten, thrown in a cistern, and rejected — makes his message especially powerful. Even while in prison he bought land as an act of faith in God’s promises (Jeremiah 32).
The book ends with the tragic fulfillment of judgment — the fall of Jerusalem (Jeremiah 39, 52) — but also points to God’s ultimate victory and redemption.

Main Message:
A holy nation or church that turns away from God will face judgment. Repentance is the only escape, but pride often prevails until it is too late. Still, God’s mercy remains. Even after severe discipline, restoration is possible for those who return to Him.
Jeremiah’s prophecy is strikingly relevant today. As our own nation repeats the same sins, this book serves as both a solemn warning and a call to faithfulness.

The Church and Nation Are Judged (Chapters 7-10)
Jeremiah 7 - America, Blame it on the Church
The dreadful political situation we are facing today is a direct consequence of the church failing to stand for the Word of God. And it’s not just some recent problem; the church’s progressive liberal anti-Biblical roots can be traced all the way back before the Civil War to the socialist abolitionist movement. And now we're reaping the fruit of its failure.

Jeremiah 8 - A Nation that Feels No Shame
With the radical LGBT movement, abortion on demand, and so many other vile and sinful things being celebrated in America, you would think there would be a sense of shame, but there isn’t.

Broken Covenants and Coming Judgment (Chapters 11-16)
Jeremiah 11 - Broken Covenants Lead to Misery
Breaking the covenant led to misery back then, and it leads to misery now as America goes from being one nation under God to a multicultural nation worshipping many gods.

Jeremiah 13 - Instead of Glory They Brought Shame
God’s people were supposed to be to God like a fancy waistband worn by kings as a symbol of their high station and glory (Jer. 13:1-11). Instead, their decline in morals made them like a rotten piece of cloth, unfit to be worn by a peasant.

The Heart is Deceitful and Judgment is Certain (Chapters 17-20)
Jeremiah 17 - Don't Follow Your Heart, It Will Deceive You
In this book of Jeremiah, we’ve been getting chapter after chapter of God expressing his anger at the nation of Judah with promises of impending punishment. It would be tempting for many to say, “Oh, we’ve had enough of this doomsday stuff; let’s find some cotton candy verses that make us happy.” That’s dangerous, my friends. God didn’t give us all these books of the Bible so we could just cherry-pick the 10% of the verses we like to hear and apply them out of context.

Jeremiah 18 - God's Hand Forms and Destroys Nations
In this chapter, God warns the disobedient nation of Judah that He is like a potter who forms and destroys nations according to His will, depending on whether that nation obeys His Word. And we’ll find out if the nation of Judah takes heed of or rejects this warning, and what implications this chapter may have for America today.

Jeremiah 19 - Will America Burn Like Tophet Because of Abortion
This book of Jeremiah, as we’ve been discovering, is filled with negative prophecies or promises of judgment against the nation of Judah that existed around 500 B.C. Needless to say, Jeremiah wasn’t a popular prophet because people would rather hear comforting lies than listen to the uncomfortable or convicting truth.
YouTube | MP3
Jeremiah 20 - Jeremiah Refuses to Soften The Word
Everyone hated him. Not because he was an evil man or a criminal. They hated him because he faithfully delivered the uncensored Word of God, word for word, line upon line. And that's not politically correct.

Messages to Kings, Pastors & False Prophets (Chapters 21-24)
Jeremiah 21 - Jeremiah Prophesies Against False 'Zionism'
The modern-day Zionist movement that gave birth to the Israeli nation is destined to bring in and exalt the Antichrist. It’s a false gospel centered around the teaching that the unbelieving (fake) Jews are God’s chosen people and that they have a Biblical right to rule the world from God’s chosen city, Jerusalem (Zion), apart from having to believe in Jesus Christ.
YouTube | MP3
Jeremiah 22 - Jeremiah Rebukes Corrupt Politicians
Back in chapters 1 & 2 of this great book, you will remember that part of Jeremiah’s commission was to proclaim the word of God to kings and political leaders. His message wasn’t just confined to the 4 walls of a church. And in this chapter we’ll see him do exactly that.

Jeremiah 23 - Woe Unto The Pastors!
We come to one of the most powerful chapters in the Bible rebuking pastors for not teaching God’s Word chapter-by-chapter and verse-by-verse. A chapter that every would-be ministry ought to read often, reminding them of their duties to God and the people.

Jeremiah 24 - Zionism: Good & Bad Figs of Judah
In this chapter, God will reveal the destiny of the entire kingdom of Judah. He will promise blessings to one group and curses to another. Promises, I believe, continue on to this day. In fact, I believe this chapter goes hand in hand with Matthew 24 in exposing the so-called modern-day state of Israel as a fraudulent nation that will give birth to the Antichrist, so to speak.

Warnings to All Nations (Chapters 25-29)
Jeremiah 25 - All Nations Shall Certainly Drink
So far, a majority of the first 24 chapters of Jeremiah have been warning after warning of impending doom for the nation of Judah, for her national sins. Sins that she refused to repent of. But in this chapter, Jeremiah is going to expand the warnings of doom to the rest of the nations of the world.

Jeremiah 29 - Build Houses and Plant Gardens in Babylon
These prophets gave Judah false hope of peace and security, causing them to be complacent in their sin. Instead of telling them to repent of their sins and obey God, they said Don’t worry; everything is going to be just fine.

Prophecies of National Restoration (Chapters 30-33)
Jeremiah 30 - National Restoration after The Tribulation
For the most part, the first 29 chapters of the book of Jeremiah have been filled with negative prophecies concerning the nation of Judah, prophecies foretelling their doom and destruction. But in the next few chapters the tone changes drastically to a more positive theme, prophecies foretelling Israel and Judah’s national restoration.

Jeremiah 31 - Hope for White Christian Israel
We are living in a time when white Christians, the Biblical Israelites, are vilified by the left by things like Critical Race Theory; our communities are being flooded with legal and illegal immigrants from 3rd World Countries who hate our country; symbols of our heritage are being torn down in every city, but this chapter we’re going to read today will give us hope.

Conclusion — The Fall of Jerusalem (Chapter 52)
Major Themes Running Through Jeremiah
- National Apostasy & Church Failure – God repeatedly blames corrupt leaders and false prophets (especially the pastors) for leading the people into judgment (see ch. 23).
- False Patriotism & False Zionism – Many in Jeremiah’s day trusted in their temple, their heritage, and their nation’s “special status” while practicing wickedness. God destroyed that false confidence.
- Coming Judgment from the North – An evil empire (Babylon) would serve as God’s instrument of judgment.
- Personal & National Heart Issues – The deceitful heart, idolatry, child sacrifice (abortion parallel), and refusal to repent.
- Hope Beyond Judgment – Even in the darkest chapters, God promises future restoration for the remnant of Israel.
V. Key Applications for Today
America is walking the exact same path as ancient Judah:
God is still looking for men and women who will “stand in the gap” and speak His word without compromise — even when it costs them everything.
- A once-blessed nation that has forgotten God
- Churches full of compromise and pastors who refuse to preach the hard truths
- Leaders who lie and break covenants
- A people who trust in their heritage instead of genuine repentance
God is still looking for men and women who will “stand in the gap” and speak His word without compromise — even when it costs them everything.
